Born on a highly technological world, Inova's mother was the head of a minor cult that worshiped her avidly. Dark Lady Renza was, naturally, grooming her daughter to eventually take her place when she died and continue her legacy unending. Sadly, it was not to be. While Inova was still young, her mother's cult was wiped out by a rival cult leader and his fanatics.
Little seven year old Inova alone survived and was subsequently sold into slavery on a distant planet. She managed to escape her captivity when half the world's population was wiped clean by an unknown alien force. She survived by stowing away on her master's fleeing ship, ending up where it landed, on a still vastly untouched colony world. In order to keep her life and freedom Inova was forced to flee into the wild, where she managed to befriend the leader of a small outlying settlement named Correth.
She lived with them for several years, eventually becoming infatuated with a human boy by the name of Baern. Though she was still young, they ended up having a child, a strangely dark skinned girl she name Wrain En'Inova. She realized quickly that she was not ready to be a mother and missed the comforts that higher technology provided. Leaving the child with its father, she chose to join a well known mercenary group called The Death Dreamers that had recently landed on the planet.
Unfortunately, when she returned to her family several years later with enough credits in her pocket to get all three of them off world, she found the settlement burned and the corpses of Correth and his followers piled unceremoniously in a hole. Their murderers didn't even bother to fill in the mass grave. Wrongly believing that her child hadn't managed to inherit her talent for being the last man standing, she threw herself into her mercenary work. Misfortune seemed to follow her wherever she went, however, and within the year The Death Dreamers took on a disastrous contract.
Whoever these guys were, they wasted no effort in wiping the Death Dreamers off the face of the map. Miraculously, she alone once more survived, though she was captured, tortured and experimented on. Eventually the group's resident medic took a sick liking to her and she used the other woman's desire and affection to her advantage, convincing her to help her escape, then vanishing from her side at the first port they arrived in.
At this point she became a wraith in the universe, sneaking aboard transports, stealing and fighting for her food, gradually battling her way up the underworld food chain, all the while strictly avoiding working with groups or organizations directly. Then one day, while she was casing a particularly rich looking house on the outskirts of a relatively sleepy settlement, she discovered the corpse of a man so full of cybernetics she could barely tell what his base race was.
As she bent down to discover the cause of his death, the clock struck midnight exactly and a servant walked in. He screamed and she ran, disappearing into the night, but the crime stuck. She became known as the Midnight Rose, murderer of Graham Thorn, wealthiest and most corrupt cybernetics mogul in the sector who was apparently vacationing in the summer home that no one had managed to locate until she accidentally come across it. Her luck had apparently finally come full circle. The reputation was worth more than credits. It was worth more than anything she'd ever owned in her life. She was suddenly wanted, in all the best and worst ways. She became the most sought after assassin in the cluster almost over night, with her pick of contracts and price tags. The less prepared might have faltered under the sudden weight of expectation, but she was already trained and damn well not going to slam the door in opportunity's face.
